Our pupils who choose to study LCM Music Theatre exams have always achieved 100% pass rate. On average each year 70% of our exam pupils achieve the highest mark of Distinction.
Our Technique & Performance classes are fun lessons which teach the principles of vocal techniques 'best practice' so the pupils learn to take care of their voices and develop their talents through understanding correct breathing, use of their larynx, pitch, vocal registers, harmony, ad libs, performance, stagecraft and microphone techniques. Where appropriate, some songs are staged to easy dance moves, which enhance the performance. There are performances twice a year (an annual talent show & Battle of the bands), providing our students plenty of performance experience, in a friendly and positive environment aimed at building their confidence.
Musical Theatre exam classes consist of two terms of fun, small group tuition, studying stage and film songs revealing pupils talents not just as singers but as actors and entertainers too. The final term becomes partially private tuition, where each child is coached one to one to help them achieve their best exam result possible. These exams challenge each students skill and dramatic characterisation helping them grow to another level aiming to "not just demonstrate.......but 'be'" (John Thaw) and to 'play a part as if their life depended on it' (Sierra Boggess).
Online and face to face private lessons are also available studying Pop or Musical Theatre for fun, for exams or as audition prep.
Our founder, Cinnamon Fuller (Bsc.(Hons.) BAST, CIM, B.Arts Assoc. Ele.Tap AMBA), knows from over 30 years experience teaching that it is important to have fun whilst learning, which is essential to the development of the individual. Singing, music and movement encourage self-expression and builds self-confidence. These remain with a child for the rest of their lives. Having been trained by leading UK vocal science experts, Line Hilton & Kaya Herstad Carney, Cinnamon ensures all students voices are protected in their training, understanding how to sing safely and gaining knowledge of their voices (using principles most other performers don't often learn until reaching University).
Working in the music industry as a session singer for EMI, Cinnamon has recorded and toured with bands as a singer/songwriter. With this wealth of knowledge, she realises the importance of offering pupils a chance to study contemporary songs sung by their pop or stage idols. From writing and directing children’s musicals in the US and the UK, Cinnamon knows to be a good singer students not only require good vocal technique but they also need training in performing and confident microphone skills. With this in mind it is our goal to develop and encourage young entertainers whether they perform on their own, for their family, at a party or for an audition.
"Thank you for all your support and hard work. Zeina's confidence and performance skills have grown immensely. We cannot thank you enough for your inspiration. Because you care so much you have helped direct Zeina and so many other students to grow in many ways" (Fiona Addadahine)
"We were really impressed with the commitment and support the teachers gave, they were bright, smiley and encouraging which really too the edge off Lulu's exam nerves" (Robert Simmons)
