Technique & Performance class

Our Technique & Performance classes for 6-18 yr olds, in Shepperton and Claygate, are fun lessons, which teach the principles of vocal techniques 'best practice' so pupils do not damage their voices and learn how to develop their talents through understanding correct breathing, use of the larynx, pitch, vocal registers, harmony, ad libs, stagecraft, performance and microphone techniques. Songs are staged to easy dance moves, where appropriate, to improve performance and entertainment, plus build vocal stamina. 

Coaching is given on performance techniques to assist children's confidence in communicating their enjoyment of singing to their audience and their ability to demonstrate stagecraft. Most of the songs our pupils study are contemporary pop and musical theatre songs as they respond to these with such passion, energy and enthusiasm. We also train pupils to use microphones for one of the three academic terms each year in preparation for our live Talent Show.

There are three performances per year one held at the end of each term: a Talent show, Battle of the Bands competition and our Summer Variety Show. These events provide our pupils regular performance experience, in a friendly and  positive environment while building their confidence.
